A Purple DIY Wedding at the Highliner Plaza Hotel in Prince Rupert, British Columbia

Lia Ciotoli and Alan Sherman planned bright, modern affair with varying shades of vibrant purple and sleek silver for their late summer nuptials in Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

The day kicked off with a traditional religious ceremony at a local church. The pair recited their own vows and put a personal twist on the space with bunches of calla lilies and wildflowers lining the aisle and arrangements of eye-catching purple flowers woven throughout. The wedding party’s own attire amplified the effect and created an element of cohesion throughout the day.

After being announced husband and wife, the newlyweds joined their guests at the Highliner Plaza Hotel for dinner and dancing. Lia and Alan transformed the modern event space into a whimsical lavender dream; purple linens, flower petals and fluffy floating florals displayed atop mirrored plaques filled the room with color and energy, bringing the couple’s vision to life. Crystal accents and gems added just the right amount of glitz to give the handcrafted decor a glam edge.

During dinner guests enjoyed Italian wines from Lia’s father’s very own cantina, and the couple gifted guests homemade spice rub and Lia’s favorite chocolate almonds as a thank you for their attendance. Cupcakes and a candy buffet jam-packed with colorful treats provided a sweet finish to the meal, and surprises like a sentimental skype session with Lia’s grandparents in Italy, a dance floor flash mob and musical bridesmaid speech (set to the tune of a Taylor Swift song, of course) kept guests on their toes all evening long.
