A Purple Accented Wedding at North Carolina State University Club in Raleigh, North Carolina

North Carolina State University alumni Kathryn Fitz-William Gentry (33 and an assistant property manager) and Joshua Gentry (32 and a structural engineer) returned to their alma mater to celebrate their marriage in classic style. Since the bride loves purple and the couple got married in the fall, rich hues from eggplant to lavender became the primary inspiration for the color palette, which also included hints of red to showcase the couple’s NC State spirit. Following an intimate ceremony at Benson Memorial First United Methodist Church, the couple hosted a reception at North Carolina State University Club. “This seemed like the perfect place to celebrate our wedding, since we are both Wolfpack fans and had both graduated from NC State University. We wanted to have dancing, and the University Club had plenty of room,” Kathryn says. She wore a simple strapless satin wedding dress with a hip embellishment, her favorite from a day of dress shopping with her mother-in-law. Kathryn’s sister even commented, “I can definitely tell you love this dress because you came out of the fitting room dancing.” The part of Kathryn and Josh’s wedding day that best reflected them was their families being involved and coming together. “Josh’s best man later said that he thought our wedding was great because you could not tell who was on the bride’s side and who was on the groom’s side,” Kathryn says. “We all just came together to celebrate, dance and have a wonderful evening.”
