A Provencale Glam Wedding at a Private Residence in Niantic, Connecticut

Instead of more traditional nautical hues like navy and white, Alexanderson (Alex) Dowling (23 and a marketing coordinator for a real estate company) and Robert (Rob) Bourdon (25 and a research associate for a finance company) incorporated softer shades of blue and ivory into their ocean-inspired fete.

After trying on multiple dresses during her hunt for the perfect gown, Alex fell in love with the last design she put on. “It had a beachy, casual feel,” she says. “I ultimately chose what I felt most comfortable and beautiful in.”

Both the cocktail hour and reception took place under a fabric-draped tent, where guests sipped on signature Moscow Mules topped with fresh blueberries. “We called it the ‘OBP Mule,’ which was a nod to our wedding location at Old Black Point,” Alex says. At the end of the night, guests took home the copper mugs used for the signature cocktail.

“The cake was the one detail Rob and I couldn’t agree on,” Alex says. While Rob favored a lemon cake filled with fresh, raspberry compote, Alex preferred a coconut confection paired with blueberries. “We ended up layering our favorites to create a ‘compromise cake,’” she says of the flower-topped dessert.
