A Pretty, Woodland Wedding at the Schrammsberg Estate in Nevada City, California
Laura Hellen (25 and an event coordinator) and Mike Hellen’s (26 and a medical student) woodland wedding at the Schrammsberg Estate was nothing short of lovely, from the pinecone and lantern accents to their purple and green color scheme and handkerchief wedding favors. “Mike and I love nature; it's our place to escape and refresh,” Laura says. “The wilderness is the place we feel most comfortable, so it was a natural fit for us to get married in the trees.” Matt and Jentry: Photographers captured every moment, from the sweet personal vows in their outdoor ceremony to the conga line under a canopy of string lighting. As Laura and Mike wanted to highlight their natural setting, the team at AW2 Flowers helped them to highlight its beauty with just a few accents. They designed a bold bouquet of purple delphiniums, purple roses, white roses and greenery for Laura and opposite arrangements for her bridesmaids. Each wore a purple knee-length or floor-length dress from Etsy and carried an all-white bouquet. A natural touch was added to the couple’s reception tables as wildflowers, wooden bases and pinecones surrounded each lantern centerpiece. Another notable detail was the couple’s dessert table. “Guests tell us they still crave those desserts,” Laura says. Tiers of dessert shooters with mousse, small cakes, cupcakes and a single-tier wedding cake were set on the table as a “sweet love” banner draped across the front. For future couples, Laura shares a tip to plan ahead and spend wisely: “I found so many deals and coupons because I never bought anything last minute. I saved an insane amount of money. I would also say to choose your priorities and stick to it,” she says.
