A Preppy Wedding at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire

Sometimes the best things happen when you least expect it. That was certainly the case for Jenna Stark (27 and a psychotherapist) and Matt Antle (29 and a bank analyst). The pair met by chance on a transatlantic flight to London, England, where they both going to study abroad. Eight years later, Matt popped the question. For their late-summer wedding in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, the pair planned an elegant preppy affair with playful touches that paid tribute to the Granite State’s natural scenery. “We both wanted our wedding to be at a place that allowed all our friends and family to be together surrounded by beauty,” Jenna says. “The Omni Mount Washington Resort gave us an elegant and refined space where the natural beauty and colors of the mountains surrounded us.”

An outdoor ceremony atop Jewel Terrace seemed like the obvious choice to Jenna and Matt, its panoramic mountain views and lush green landscape providing a jaw-dropping backdrop for the event. The pair wrote the ceremony together, including their vows, which they recited to each other under a canopy of textured greenery and bright fuchsia flowers. “The ceremony was our favorite part of the entire wedding,” Jenna says. The reception was in Omni Mount Washington’s Grand Ballroom, where pale pink linens and tall, textured arrangements of Bells of Ireland, red roses and pink hydrangeas established a classic yet festive feel for the evening’s celebrations. “We had an assortment of high and low centerpieces, not wanting to obstruct any views,” Jenna says. “We also wanted to bring height to the decor, since there were high ceilings.” Reception tables were named after peaks in the White Mountains, and a gold fondant confetti cake brought a note of whimsy and glamour to the evening’s festivities. A tip from Jenna and Matthew: “Have fun! No one notices the small details, but everybody notices if the bride and groom are enjoying themselves. Make that your priority.” —Libby MacCarthy
