A Preppy Island-inspired Wedding at Southernmost House in Key West, Florida
Kaitlin Brownyard (30 and in healthcare) and Donald (Don) Wojnar (32 and in insurance) met while in high school, reconnected through mutual friends and became engaged four years later. Don popped the question with a David Yurman round diamond ring in the same restaurant where Kaitlin’s parents had their first date. With the help of Simply You Weddings, the couple spent their next year planning a preppy island-inspired celebration accented in pink, white, blue and green. As Kaitlin and Don both have fond memories of Key West and spent their first date talking about the city, there was no doubt that it would house their wedding. The couple had a traditional ceremony at the Basilica of Saint Mary Star of the Sea accented with two lush floral arrangements by the altar in shades of purple, orange and white. After Kaitlin and Don said “I do,” their 130 guests moved to the Southernmost House for a poolside reception decorated with neutral linen-covered tables, lanterns, chiavari chairs and string lighting. Each friend and family member was treated to a buffet dinner as well as a numerous confections. Dessert rum shots in banana, key lime and raspberry, creme brulee and a Carnival station from Cupcake Sushi filled with cotton candy, funnel cake and churros were available for dessert. Kaitlin and Don spent the rest of their night dancing to the Ben Hammond Band’s steel drums with their guests.
