Angela Bloomquist (25 and a general manager) and Chris Owens (25 and a construction project engineer) attended the same junior high school and started dating at age 13. They dated consistently throughout high school and college and, on their 10-year anniversary, the couple celebrated by taking a trip to Healdsburg, California. While they were there, Angela fell in love with a custom-made engagement ring that had an asscher cut center stone. Chris surprised Angela with a hiking trip at Carmel, where he proposed with the vintage-styled engagement ring before going out to a nice dinner. The couple had their wedding at Wedgewood Wedding & Banquet Center at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame, California where Angela was the general manager. They had an outdoor ceremony at the onsite gazebo, and afterwards had their wedding reception indoors at the banquet hall. The romantic, vintage theme came to life through the color palette of purple, green and champagne, decorating everything from the dahlia flower arrangements to the purple engagement photo thank you note, and even tissue pompoms the venue. At the end of the meal, a traditional white wedding cake with fudge, lemon and a whipped cream topped with fresh berries was served.

Hydrangea, Rose and Dahlia Bouquet with Wrap
“We bought the bridesmaid dresses at David’s Bridal,” says Angela. “I picked the fabric and color that I wanted everyone to use and then told them they could pick their own styles, it turned out they all liked the same dress and I loved it so they ended up all matching!”
Bridal Party with White Umbrellas
“Wedgewood is a company that truly cares about people having an amazing experience and a once in a lifetime wedding,” says Angela. “It felt right choosing the stunning ceremony site gazebo and after the wedding I still feel that I had the best wedding ever.”
Ivory, Plum and Green Flower Arrangement
“We handmade all the three flower girls dresses with tulle strips and added a matching sash from David’s Bridal, and we also made all their headbands,” says Angela.

Plum and Black Wedding Party
“I went to twelve different bridal salons looking for a dress,” says Angela. “I found an Allure gown that I fell in love with at Blossoms in Dublin. I love the drama of a ball gown but I didn’t want any gathering at the waist. It took forever to find a dress that had both. I added a cathedral length veil and waist length blusher. I chose to wear my hair half up, half down. It was important for me to have some kind of braid because I grew up wearing French braided pigtails every day to school and I love how little braids look.”
Intimate Shot of Married Couple
“I have always loved the color purple, so the main color was easy to choose,” says Angela. “We used a plum hue of purple with a soft light green and champagne as accent colors. The general style was romantic with a touch of vintage.”
Photo Guest Book on Plum Table
“We used my grandmother’s vintage frames to make a stand for the escort cards,” says Angela. “I hand sewed tiny organza and chiffon flowers for each escort card with a pearl in the center.”
“We had a photo booth, so we gave out magnetic fridge frames with a thank you note inside and placed them inside the folded napkins on each place setting,” says Angela. “I used Photoshop and took our engagement photos then put a purple wash over it and added the thank you note. It was a cool way to use our engagement photos more.”
Hydrangea, rose and dahlia arrangements in shade of purple, green and ivory were arranged in a candelabra for dining table centerpieces. “Rosedale Floral Design in Brisbane did all of our flowers,” says Angela. “I love fluffy, romantic arrangements and she did an amazing job of it coming to life. My favorite flower is the dahlia and she made sure to use a lot of them.”
The sweetheart table at the reception had a champagne colored tablecloth and had gold sparkly drapery. Single plum dahlias were displayed in small circular glass vases.
“We served traditional wedding cake of white with fudge, lemon and a derby whip cream with fresh berries,” says Angela. “We also had a Gelato Cart with many flavors that served during dinner.”
