A Playful, Pop-Culture-Inspired Wedding at Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Georgia

Inspired by their favorite films, television shows and video games, Candyce Black (36 and a talent acquisition manager) and Jason Wells (36 and a general surgeon) describe their whimsical rooftop nuptials as “sci-fi meets starry night.” “We wanted to stay true to who we are as a couple,” Candyce says of incorporating lightsabers, Marvel heroes and Harry Potter–inspired stationery and sweets throughout their personalized fete. The couple booked their venue after falling for the market’s open-air rooftop and eclectic design. To make their union official, the pair sealed the deal with a water ceremony and community prayer before jumping the broom. Golden-snitch-like flowers topped the couple’s Harry Potter–themed dessert spread, and after enjoying varied stations like Thai noodles and sushi, guests took home popcorn favors. “We both have family in Kansas City, and I’m from Chicago, so we mixed local popcorns from each city,” Candyce says.
