A Playful, Polka-Dot-Themed Wedding at The Rockbridge Club in Columbia, South Carolina

Laurin Long and Michael Bank’s spring wedding was a personality-packed celebration with a punchy black-and-white polka-dot theme and plenty of playful touches.

The couple said “I do” in a heartfelt interfaith ceremony at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Columbia, South Carolina. They exchanged vows under the tallit Michael received at his bar mitzvah and incorporated other Jewish traditions such as a Ketubah signing and breaking of the glass.

For their reception at The Rockbridge Club, the couple ensured that their fun-loving personalities shined through. Polka-dot table runners and vibrant red roses adorned the tables, providing the perfect complement to the wedding party’s attire and the striking square cake that put a sweet finish on dinner. A mashed potato bar was a big hit with guests, as were Pelican's SnoBalls and the miniature gumball dispenser favors. “The line for the Pelican's SnoBalls was longer than the one for the bar!” Laurin says.

The day was made all the sweeter because Laurin was able to walk down the aisle and dance at the wedding. “Since my cancer reoccurrence in August 2017, the doctors told me I would probably not make it to March—and if I did, I might not be walking. So, to be able to walk down the aisle to Mike was the most amazing moment, and Mike and I were skipping down the aisle after we were married,” Laurin says. “When we had our first dance, it was the best for me because, one, Mike was my husband, and two, because dancing is one of my favorite things to do! We danced the whole song, and I cried extremely happy tears. I was able to dance the night away—Mike and I stayed until the very last song dancing!”
