A New Year's Eve-Inspired Wedding at The Plantation House in Pflugerville, Texas

Alex Barrientos (23 and a teacher) and Derek Sovern (24 and an engineer) started dating in high school and attended the University of Texas together. They got married at The Plantation House in Pflugerville, Texas; the giant house and lofty tent attracted them. The New Year’s Eve-inspired wedding theme called for an ivory and gold color palette and classic elegance in wedding party fashions: Alex wanted a Jackie Kennedy-inspired look, so she wore an Allure Bridals dress with crystal sleeves. The bridesmaids wore long, gold dresses and the groom wore a classic black suit and tie. The country chic dining table centerpieces included antique blue mason jars from Derek’s grandmother atop cedar wood slabs made by Derek’s grandfather. Derek’s cousin’s birthday was the day of the wedding, so the couple dedicated a piece of their wedding cake with a candle to sing "Happy Birthday" to him.
