A Neutral, Orange and Gold Wedding at the Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina
With a gold, orange and neutral color scheme, chips and salsa wedding favors and grand centerpieces, Ann Thorne (31 and a teacher) and Matt Eaves’s (36 and in commercial insurance) wedding was filled with details we didn't expect. They started the day with a sweet ceremony at their church and ended the night with an indoor reception at the Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina. Tiger Lily Weddings, Ann and Matt’s florist, lined the tables with lush greenery and branches in trumpet-style vases to resemble a tree. Low arrangements of white hydrangeas and candlelight accented its base while floating tealight candles at different heights decorated cocktail tables around the room for a romantic glow. Their wedding cake added an extra hint of color. Charleston Cakes Etc. wrapped the five-tier ivory confection with champagne ribbon as lines of orange lisianthus and green orchids highlighted two layers. What caught our attention, however, was the entertainment. Ann and Matt brought out a troop from Other Brother Entertainment, the Electric Company, with a DJ, percussionist and break-dancer that kept everyone on the floor. Their team even included a few whimsical costumes and props to ensure that everyone was having a good time. Guests donned boas, sunglasses and elaborate alien-inspired masks as they danced for the rest of the reception and took part in a pom-pom exit. “It was a wonderful night not only for Matt and me, but our family and friends as well,” Ann says.
