A Nautical Yacht Wedding on the San Francisco Bay in San Francisco, California

Mark Agustin-Hanson (35 and a registered nurse) and Tom Agustin-Hanson (26 and a lending club representative) connected through Myspace and eventually started to date. Four years later, the couple was on a sailboat tour of the San Francisco bay. Mark was planning on proposing to Tom on the boat, but since the weather was absolutely awful that day, he waited until that night. Mark gave Tom a box of his favorite chocolates, and under a pink truffle was a note that read, “Will you marry me?” attached to an engagement ring. Since Mark’s initial proposal didn’t go according to plan, the couple decided to try again and have their wedding on a yacht in the San Francisco bay. Tom, Mark and their sixty guests cruised to a spot facing the San Francisco skyline for their ceremony. Tom and Mark both wore navy tuxedos but in different styles, and invited guests to dress in black tie attire. The nautical theme of the wedding was complemented with a navy blue, white and gold color palette. Nautical images, ranging from an octopus to a compass, represented tables where guests were seated at, and everyone was invited to write a handwritten message for the couple and place it in a glass bottle. The aqua blue wedding cake was dotted with white beading, with a black topper depicting the two grooms in tuxedos.

“We had our wedding ceremony and reception on a yacht in the San Francisco bay,” says the couple. “We cruised to the Bay Bridge and performed our ceremony facing the San Francisco skyline.”
The boat was decorated with full arrangements of ivory hydrangeas, snapdragons and lilies mixed with tall branches.
“Our wedding ceremony was the best element because it told our story of our love and commitment,” says the couple. “We wanted to make our guests feel special by giving them a memorable event that they can talk about for years.”
Guests were invited to write a message to the couple on stationery, roll it up and place it in the tall glass bottle.
“We wore custom navy tuxedoes, but in different styles,” says the couple. “We wanted it to keep it classy but kept the attire black tie optional for everyone. “
Simply decorated dining tables had small centerpieces of white calla lilies, blue hydrangeas, tulips and seeded eucalyptus.
Paper escort tags had a nautical image that matched a table marker at one of the dining tables. The tags were tied around glass bottles.
