“If one were to search ‘opposites attract’ on the Internet, one image that would pop up should be of Denny and me,” says Cary Bruno (27 and a self-employed sales director). She is outgoing and and spontaneous, while Denny Choate (28 and a physical therapist) is reserved and patient, but the two complement each other like puzzle pieces. They first met through mutual friends on their respective college Division 1 baseball and softball teams, and after an all-nighter of Guitar Hero with their friends, sparks flew. Despite several periods of long distance while living in different states and pursuing their dreams, their relationship persevered. Three years after they started dating, Denny proposed with a picnic on the river bank that flowed through the town of the couple’s alma mater. The two patiently waited to live in the same town with completed advanced degrees so they could enjoy their first years of marriage together, and three years later, they finally tied the knot at Hotel Galvez in Galveston, Texas. “It was quite interesting to find a way to combine Denny’s country, laid-back style with my statement ‘must haves,’” says Cary. The couple’s wedding blended Texas glamour with the nautical coast in a navy, coral and champagne color theme. The ceremony took place outdoors on the lawn with the sound of rolling gulf waves in the background. At the reception, The Klockwork Band kept the dance floor active at all times, and for Cary and Denny’s grand exit, they played New Orleans-style music in a Second Line style as a tribute to the couple’s alma mater in Louisiana. “We left the reception feeling overwhelmed with the amount of love and support we received leading up to and on the day of our wedding,” says Cary. “Words cannot express our gratitude for everyone making it a point to celebrate our day with us.”
