A Nautical Wedding at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida
From the illuminated ceremony backdrop to the live fish centerpieces, Aricka Johnson (22 and an engineer) and Chris Johnson’s (23 and an engineer) pink and navy wedding combined nautical and whimsical details. Minerva Photography captured the day as it with a traditional ceremony in Chris’s hometown church, the First Baptist Church of Homestead. Since Chris and his family are Nascar fans, the coupled ended their night with a fun reception at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The couple’s florist, Designs By Darenda, also helped to include a few bright details in both venues. Tall, lush arrangements of pink calla lilies, white, pink and fuchsia peonies and champagne roses were placed on white columns on the couple’s altar. Similar bright plumes also accented their head table at the reception. The remaining tables were met with a more sea-worthy touch. Floating pink and white orchid accents, rope-wrapped candles, live goldfish in glass vases and sea shells were spread along the round tables. Another standout detail was the couple’s wedding cake. The three-tier ivory confection was covered in rosette details that highlighted their florals in a classic hue. Mini cupcakes topped with pink icing surrounded the cake and included the couple’s wedding color in their dessert. For future couples, Aricka shares a tip: “At the end of the day, all the planning in the world doesn't matter as long as you're enjoying your special day. But don't forget to eat the cake.”
