A Nautical, Summer Wedding at White Elephant Hotel in Nantucket, Massachusetts

Laura Woodburn (34 and a business owner) and John Woodburn (45 and a project manager) met online and immediately felt the connection between them. After countless emails and phone conversations, they had their first date and were inseparable ever since. It only took a few months before the pair began talking about marriage and discussing rings. John, however, was still able to plan the whole proposal without Laura having any idea. While on a ski trip, John arranged for the ski lift to stop for his proposal. Once they reached the top of the mountain, a crowd of guests were waiting to congratulate them. John always wanted to have his wedding in Nantucket and, after visiting for the first time, Laura agreed that it was the perfect place. They decided to have their wedding at the White Elephant Hotel with its scenic view of the Nantucket Harbor. "We are both pretty easygoing and so we knew we wanted an intimate and casual wedding," Laura says. With a joint love for hands-on planning, Laura and John decided to do all of the planning themselves. They chose a color palette of dark blue, gray and white with yellow accents. Decor was kept simple with a nautical theme following the Nantucket Harbor setting.
