A Nature-Inspired Woodland Wedding at Ron's Pond in Monmouth, Oregon
The woodland setting made up of hiking trails at Ron's Pond in Monmouth, Oregon, embodied a natural feel for the nuptials between Miyako Taylor (25 and a student) and Brian De Wolf (32 and a teacher). "I liked the idea of natural and found objects," Miyako says. "We displayed many geodes, crystals and rocks, as well as skulls and taxidermy. Nearly all the displayed objects were 'found,' whether it was by Brian and me in the woods, by my sister in Florida or in second-hand shops." Miyako and Brian used these objects throughout many of the day's details, from the amethyst crown that Miyako wore to tables decorated in fossils and vintage vases. Guests grabbed white programs with watercolor floral designs in yellow, green, white and purple at the ceremony, reflecting some of the wedding colors. The service took place in the middle of the woodland, with potted plants lining the aisle that led to the branch archway dripping in foliage. The party then moved to the reception set up on the green grass, where friends and family gathered round white dining tables set with vintage colorful glassware. And the natural-looking naked wedding cake satisfied every sweet tooth, layered with lemon Madeira cake and finished with a lavender sugar wash. We especially loved the way Miyako's wildflower bouquet—including Queen Anne's lace, Miyako's favorite flower—embodied the day's natural colors and style.
