A Natural, Whimsical Wedding at Mercury Hall in Austin, Texas

Sarah DeCiero (28 and a veterinarian) and Dane DeCiero (29 and a social worker) met in college on the ultimate frisbee team. Dane proposed on top of a mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park. “Dane told me he had something to show me and brought me into this beautiful meadow. For years, I had been wanting to see a moose in person and thought surely that’s what he wanted to show me,” says Sarah. As she was scanning the scenery for a moose, Sarah turned around to ask Dane where it was and discovered him on one knee. “Definitely better than seeing my first moose… but don’t worry, I saw one the next day!” says Sarah. The couple loved the Texas Hill Country atmosphere at Mercury Hall in Austin, Texas, and decided to get married there to show off their city to their out-of-town guests. “We wanted our wedding to be relaxed and reflect our love of the outdoors,” says Sarah, so she and Dane selected an earth toned, neutral color palette for their wedding decor. The ceremony took place under a massive live oak tree, followed by a cocktail hour outdoors with comfort foods in bite-sized appetizers. A highlight included miniature donkeys that wandered the grounds with satchels of beer for the guests. The reception moved indoors, where Sarah and Dane surprised their guests from switching from an instrumental guitar version of “Stand By Me” to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” with their own choreographed dance. “Everyone was so surprised—they loved it!”
