A Natural Wedding at Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee, Massachusetts
There’s no place like home for Maura Gomez (32 and in publishing) and Matt Kwedor (32 and a teacher), who got engaged in their home and hosted their wedding at Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee, Massachusetts. “It was more special to have our wedding in the Cape where Matt grew up and we both spend a lot of our free time over the years,” says the bride. The ceremony was held on the golf course near a cranberry bog and water fountain. “The backdrop couldn’t have been more beautiful with the leaves turning colors,” says the bride. As for her wedding dress, “I knew from day one that I wanted a wedding dress with lace and I didn’t want a strapless gown,” says Maura. After searching several bridal shops, Maura finally saw a dress in a store window that encouraged her to try on one more. She instantly felt comfortable in the V-neck lace sheath dress she wore on her wedding day. The couple several personal touches in their wedding, including their M&M motif displayed on a wooden sign and on custom candies and stickers. “One major element that reflected us would be the songs we chose,” says Maura. “We love Lionel Richie and used his music for our first dance song!” They also served up their favorite treats, including a personalized cocktail of cranberry mint mojito (appropriate for the wedding next to a cranberry bog!) and apple cider doughnuts as wedding favors. Another special detail? At their ceremony, the couple displayed a DIY wooden sign with arrows pointing in all the directions their loved ones traveled from to attend their special day!
