A Natural Wedding at Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins in Twin Peaks, California
Although Erin Rhodes (25 and an elementary school teacher) and Kyle Glaser (26 and sportswriter) met online, their lush Southern California summer wedding was like a trip back in time. The pair, who got engaged one Saturday morning while still in bed, opted for a simple affair in the woods of Twin Peaks, California. Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins was the only venue they visited. Not far from their home near Lake Arrowhead, the venue is a forested wonderland on its own, offering a rustic log gazebo for the ceremony and a multitiered wooden amphitheater for the reception, snug amid crisp conifers and a placid pond. "We instantly fell in love with it," Erin says. She and Kyle added only small details, such as the flower boxes lining the aisle. Erin prioritized her comfort in blue crochet Toms shoes and found her dress on her second outing—an A-line lace frock with an illusion neckline. Kyle looked classic in a black tuxedo. Bright bridesmaid bouquets, filled with white hydrangeas, yellow roses and green succulents, brought energy to the decor. The groomsmen sported yellow too, with canary-colored craspedia tucked into their boutonnieres. As a nod to Erin's profession, all the signs were chalkboards. As a nod to Kyle's, the couple wrote and printed their own wedding newspaper, complete with personal bios and blurbs about their wedding party. Guests also took home small tealight candles and mason jars stuffed with caramel popcorn. Surrounded by the latticework of the reception area, guests hit the dance floor under cascading bistro lights. Dessert was decadent, with eight types of cupcakes to choose from (including banana, mocha and champagne), plus a more traditional buttercream-frosted chocolate wedding cake, filled with fresh strawberries. As the night wound down, everyone snuggled up near a fire pit and roasted marshmallows. "The wedding as a whole reflected us as a couple," Erin says. "We are pretty simple, laid-back people." —Alexa Wybraniec
