A Natural, Watercolor-Inspired Wedding at Orchard House Bed and Breakfast in Granville, Ohio

When this couple went searching for an adventurous venue to hold their watercolor-inspired wedding, they stumbled across the Orchard House Bed and Breakfast in Granville, Ohio, and were won over by the pine-tree forest for their ceremony. “Brandon and I toured the venue and fell in love with it, especially when they offered to cut a few trees down to create the aisle and open it up,” Heather Miller (32 and a senior visual specialist at Bath & Body Works) says of her marriage to Brandon McCoy (36 and in a family business). “We were very happy to find them and couldn't have been happier with the result. It was truly magical.” Since she's a visual artist, Heather designed all the wedding stationery in black-and-white-striped watercolors, along with pops of pink, red and blue floral designs that resembled her vibrant wedding dress—little did guests know at the time. The combination of hues on the stationery also represented the color palette of the wedding day, appearing within the nontraditional wedding attire and dark fiddlehead fern, dahlia and scabiosa bridal bouquet, which was arranged by EcoFlora and photographed by Casey Clark Photography. What looked like a wall of trees on the property was actually the aisle leading to an intimate opening for the ceremony, where the couple stood on a bed of pine needles as they said their vows. At the white-tented reception that followed, four rows of long tables with no table numbers or seating assignments encouraged guests to mingle with one another. Several cakes were served to include all the couple's favorite flavors, including a chocolate cake with chocolate icing that had a cake topper depicting two deer. Although this couple didn’t intend on having a particular theme, we couldn’t help but feel a boho vibe with Heather's amazing Alice Temperley dress—a long-sleeve dress made of nude-colored silk with bright red, pink, blue and green flower designs decorating the surface. "I didn't try on any other dresses and this was the first thing purchased for my wedding," Heather says. "It wasn't a 'bridal' dress, but was perfect."
