A Natural, Vintage Inspired Wedding at Olowalu Plantation House in Maui, Hawaii
Colby Lawn (25 and in marketing) and Jonah Ferber (35 and a teacher) first saw each other at a dog park in Portland, Oregon and introduced themselves (along with their dogs!) From that day on, they kept running into each other until they decided to go out on a first date. Colby and Jonah’s relationship developed over the next two years, and found out they would be expecting a baby girl. The couple stayed at the Nines Hotel for Colby’s birthday, where Jonah got down on one knee and proposed to the love of his life. Colby was raised in Maui, Hawaii, where she met up with her father every year until he passed away. “We decided to have our wedding in Maui because it was a very special place for me,” says Colby. “We love the beauty and simplicity of Maui and what it means to us with the memories of my father.” The couple had a love for the 1940s style, so the decor and look of the wedding ended up having rustic elements with vintage flair. The couple had their wedding ceremony outside on the lawn, which then got transformed into the reception with long, family-styled tables. Arrangements of pink roses with baby’s breath decorated the middle of the table, with a single rose and thank you letterpress cards at each setting. Wedding favors were bottles of olive oil from Colby’s hometown, adding a personal touch to the intimate destination wedding.
