A Natural, Rustic Wedding at Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa in Thompsonville, Michigan
Mutual friends helped bring together Stephanie (28 and a communications professional) and Eric (27 and an economist) during heir senior year at Michigan State. "We feel for each other from day one and never really looked back!" Stephanie says. They spent five long and loving years together, buying a house and adopting a puppy, before Eric proposed on Mackinac Island with a picturesque view of the bridge. They got married in the Upper Peninsula at a ski lodge at Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa in Thompsonville, Michigan. With a neutral color palette of taupe and green, Stephanie and Eric incorporated as many rustic elements as possible, including flower boxes made out of recycled barn wood, kraft paper and twine wedding invitations, burlap table runners, and hanging mason jar aisle decor. The wedding also had a subtle apple theme, with apple tart desserts and an apple cider bar with both hot and cold cider, candied orange peels, cinnamon sticks, caramel, and even rum. For favors, the bride and groom made and canned jars of peach and strawberry jam. Organic floral arrangements incorporated hydrangeas, polar stars, and cabbage flowers in keeping with the earthy, wooded environment of the wedding site. Stephanie wore a spectacular lace, cap-sleeve, sheath dress with champagne silk and beads along the back, saying "I wish I could wear it again!" The flower girls wore similar sleeveless dresses with sheer illusion necklines and taupe satin sashes to match the bridesmaids. The groomsmen wore tan three-piece suits a shade darker than the bridesmaid dresses to complement the neutral color palette. Overall, Stephanie and Eric's wedding was the epitome of rustic elegance and Upper Peninsula charm.
