A Natural, Rustic Wedding at Aspen Meadows at Wolf Creek Ranch in Woodland, Utah
Juliette Sutherland (23 and a graduate student) and Dan Palmer (28 and a software consultant) met at a mutual friend’s costume party and went on their first date the next night. A couple years later, on a morning snow shoe trek up the Lake Blanche Trailhead, Dan rushed ahead of Juliette across a bridge above a bubbling stream and got down on one knee. “Of course, I started excitedly floundering through the snow on the gigantic snow shoes we had rented and said, 'Yes!'” Both Juliette and Dan grew up in Utah, so they knew they had to get married in one of its amazing backyards. The couple chose to be married at Aspen Meadows at Wolf Creek Ranch in Woodland, Utah because it was just far enough away from the city to feel the outdoors, while still tasteful and classic. “Imagine a cabin with beautiful art, ambiance and amazing quaking aspens for miles in every direction,” says the bride. “It encircled everything we are together. Our love of the outdoors and the exquisiteness of rustic, Western architecture.” Juniper trees, blue spruces, peonies, ranunculus and succulents inspired the neutral color palette and Western, rustic theme. “I wanted everyone to feel the natural earthiness of the setting but also a modern atmosphere for this outdoor and indoor wedding,” says Juliette.
