A Natural, Rustic Ranch Wedding at a Private Residence in Rocksprings, Texas

For Caroline Babb (32 and a therapist) and Jeremy Harris (25 and a contractor), there was no place more naturally beautiful or meaningful to celebrate their marriage than Caroline’s family’s ranch in Rocksprings, Texas, which has been in her family for more than a century. The day began with an intimate ceremony along Hackberry Creek, where ghost chairs and a wooden deck over the water seamlessly blended with the natural Hill Country scenery. Bright, lush flowers from Posey Floral and Event Design defined the springtime palette, full of pink peonies, touches of succulents and even edgy proteas. After Caroline and Jeremy said “I do” and tossed flowers into the creek (a Babb family tradition to honor loved ones), they celebrated with an Italian dinner, where wooden farm tables mixed with gold flatware, olive sprigs at each place setting and flower-filled metal boxes created a modern aesthetic with a rustic feel. Caroline and Jeremy seriously loved their wedding planner, Jennifer Seals from Pearl Events Austin, who helped them coordinate the logistics of a wedding in the Hill Country and pull off the earthy, casual atmosphere they envisioned. Caroline’s favorite detail? Her aunt Paula Cox made the invitations from bamboo pulp, and the design was a complete surprise. The intricate lace overlay on Caroline’s trumpet-style Ines Di Santo dress captured her elegant vision for the outdoor wedding. She had flowers in her hair and wore Frye ankle boots to maintain the casual feel and walk around the ranch comfortably.
The stationery was Caroline’s favorite wedding detail. Her aunt Paula Cox designed and made the invitations as a wedding gift—they were made from bamboo pulp, which made them soft and delicate. The gray, blue and soft pink palette matched the earthy, neutral tones of the wedding.
Bright peach and pink hues were a must for Caroline’s bouquet, which contained lush peonies, ranunculus and garden roses. Posey Floral and Event Design added succulents for a touch of Texas, along with bay leaves and dusty miller for greenery.
Jeremy and his groomsmen wore jeans, cowboy boots and navy sport jackets. Jeremy’s boutonniere was a soft coral ranunculus with eucalyptus, while his groomsmen’s boutonnieres had green succulents to blend in with the natural colors of the Rocksprings, Texas, ranch.

Maintaining the earthy theme, Caroline chose pale lavender and ivory colors for her bridesmaids’ Jenny Yoo dresses. Each wore her own cowboy boots and a cuff bracelet, a gift from Caroline.

Caroline and Jeremy wanted to get married on Hackberry Creek, so they built a platform over the water and surrounded the space with ghost chairs for their guests. They kept the decorations minimal, with only a few pops of colorful flowers on ghost platforms, allowing the landscape of the water and nature to provide a peaceful ambience.

Caroline and Jeremy weren’t sure their adorable ring bearers and flower girls would make it down the aisle on their own, so they had their ring bearers escort the flower girls with a garland of fresh bay leaves! The flower girls wore fluffy tulle dresses (the Colette dress from BHLDN), and the ring bearers wore navy blazers and jeans. All donned cowboy boots, just like the wedding party.

The floral centerpieces were in low rectangular metal boxes to create a casual, conversational feel at Caroline and Jeremy’s dinner in Rocksprings, Texas. The arrangements included king proteas, ranunculus, spray roses, garden roses and plenty of greenery. Each place setting had a sprig of an olive branch to bring in a natural touch from the ranch.
Mixing wooden farm tables with ghost chairs and floral arrangements in metal vases kept the aesthetic modern with a rustic feel. Caroline loved that there was no need for tablecloths—classic white dinnerware paired with gold flatware was beautiful against the farm tables' wood grain.
