A sophisticated color palette of navy, silver and sage kept their wedding simple and chic without detracting from Brian Vargo (33 and an engineer) and Paul Kittinger’s (33 and an attorney) verdant venue.
Despite the abundance of snow outside, the conservatory’s lush interior lent a tropical quality to Brian and Paul’s midwinter wedding. “With it being the off-season, we had our pick of local wedding vendors, and the vast majority of our guests were available,” Paul says.
The couple walked down the aisle together to a string rendition of Weezer’s “Island in the Sun.”
“When we found out our favorite venue had an opening in February, we decided to fast track the planning process,” Paul says of securing their dream space.
Guests found their seats at moss-topped tables, where they sipped on rosemary gin fizz cocktails and indulged in a brownie spread that included flavors like salted caramel and chocolate chip cookie. “We like cake just fine, but we love brownies,” Paul says of serving treats from a beloved Royal Oak bakery.
The pair put their own spin on the classic Newlywed Game by holding up custom paddles in lieu of shoes. “We were both wearing brown dress shoes, so we needed to come up with an alternative,” Paul says.
