A Natural, Elegant Wedding at Mayowood Stone Barn in Rochester, Minnesota
Mixing rustic accents with organic florals inspired by the animated movie FernGully allowed Samantha Bunda (27 and a retail category manager assistant) and Bryan Karr (28 and a sales account manager) to plan a barn wedding that was anything but boring.
While searching for the perfect tree to say “I do” under, Samantha stumbled upon Rochester’s Mayowood Stone Barn. “It’s truly a magical place,” she says of the century-old property. “Once Bryan and I saw the venue in person, we didn’t look anywhere else.”
A verdant installation and oversize ferns juxtaposed the barn’s second-floor loft, where the couple released butterflies during their vows.
Flower girls toted wreaths down the aisle, while Samantha’s sisters clutched silk-wrapped bouquets. “Going dress shopping was a group effort, but I ultimately let them decide which gown they felt great in,” Samantha says of dressing bridesmaids in varying shades of purple.
Butterfly and fern stamps lent an element of whimsy to the couple’s rose-gold-foiled stationery.
Samantha opted for bare feet during their laid-back ceremony, and Bryan stood out in a gray jacket and polka-dot tie. During dinner, delicate lace runners and ivory linens topped harvest tables, where guests dined on meatloaf “cupcakes,” ravioli and a sweet confection covered in purple ombré buttercream.
