A Natural, Elegant Wedding at a Private Residence in Tahoe City, California
The nearby lakefront and surrounding woodlands of this private residence in Tahoe City, California, created an intimate atmosphere for this natural-style wedding, despite a guest list of 200 people. Instead of blending in with the environment, Erin Roth (34 and a producer) and Ryan Mara (35 and a product manager) chose colors that elegantly contrasted against Mother Nature's elements. "I wanted earthy and warm, but with a rich color that popped," Erin says. "Wine or burgundy stood out amid all the green of the trees, blue of the water and brown of the mountains." And the deep red hues continued to vibrantly show through the wedding day flower arrangements—from the chrysanthemums in the ivory bridal bouquet to the hypericum berries that accented the ivory rose boutonniere. A continuous pinecone design accented all the white stationery, incorporating the surrounding natural elements into invitations, escort cards and menus. A white tent set up on the lakefront lawn had draped linens and hanging chandeliers hovering over long dining tables dressed in neutral linens. Our favorite detail was the icing on the cake. The white two-tier wedding cake embodied the natural style of the day, accented with fresh flowers and filled with vanilla pastry cream goodness.
