A Multicultural Wedding at BRICK in San Diego, California, With a Burgundy-and-Cream Palette
“We wanted our wedding to honor and merge our cultures, while staying true to our personalities,” Vishwarupa (Vish) says of her marriage to Randall. The result was a mash-up of Indian and American traditions, including a Hindu and Christian ceremony that ended with the newlyweds jumping the broom. Vish and her mom traveled to India to buy all of her traditional outfits and jewelry. “We shopped like never before,” Vish says. During a Southern-inspired cocktail hour, a musician played both American and Indian tunes on the sitar. Guests enjoyed an Indian dinner followed by a vanilla cake with Oreo cookie buttercream under bistro lights hung above wooden farmhouse tables, which were topped with greenery and lanterns. Later, a dhol player accompanied the DJ to play some of the couple's favorite classic hits. “Everyone went wild,” Vish says.
