A Mountain Chic Wedding at the Flying Diamond Ranch in Steamboat Springs, Colorado
With natural touches like wood and greenery, along with white and dusty-pink details, Olivia Tomlin (27 and a property and design vice president) and Preston Dial (28 and a vice president of acquisitions) created a “mountain-chic” wedding that featured Colorado’s natural beauty.
The couple, who both grew up skiing in Steamboat Springs, held their celebration on a ranch overlooking the Steamboat Yampa Valley and Rockies.
“I love the mountains, the wildflowers, the big blue sky and everything nature has to offer,” Olivia says. The couple wed on a raised stage with an arbor made from aspen trees.
Preston’s one request was that he and his groomsmen—the majority of which played football with him in college—wear Nike sneakers. “I did not fight him on it, and I ended up loving the look,” Olivia says.
The couple held a cocktail hour among the ranch’s aspen forest and served Colorado favorites like bison chili with jalapeño corn muffins. The flower girl wore a fresh flower crown and a Jenny Yoo dress to match the bridesmaids, while the ring bearer coordinated with the groomsmen, right down to the Nike sneakers.
The couple rented a clear tent for the reception so guests could see the starry sky after the sunset.
The bride is part Cherokee, so the couple honored the culture with a tepee outside the reception tent. “We left it open all night so guests could go in and out for photo ops,” Olivia says. “It was a huge hit!” Toward the end of the night, the bride changed into a short dress and custom-made white-leather boots. “They were a dream to wear all night,” Olivia says of her boots.
