One weekend in November 2005, Jennifer wasn’t planning on working, but a friend called and asked her to shoot her sister’s wedding at the last minute and something told her to say yes and get on a plane. On her first evening there, she ran into Jim at the wedding rehearsal. She was immediately drawn to him -- and it didn’t hurt that the bride gave him a gushing review! The Bride Jennifer Lindberg, photographer and entrepreneur The Groom Jim Pitts, a business director The Date September 13 “She said he was one of the kindest, most genuine, intelligent and worldly people she knew,” Jenn recalls. At the wedding, Jim asked her to dance -- and they’ve been taking steps together ever since. Jim proposed two years later after the couple celebrated his parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.

A snow globe topped the couple’s Dr. Seuss–inspired, fondant-frosted cake. The polka-dot linens under the stand enhanced the playful vibe.
Twigs, moss, dahlias and accent blooms combined to spell out the couple’s initials, which hung from their chairs at the front end of a table.
Square, wood boxes took the place of glass vases for the natural centerpieces with the same blooms as the bouquets and boutonnieres.
Card stock with the names of places in children’s literature, such as Whoville, The North Pole and The Secret Garden, topped each table, letting guests know where to sit.
Each guy wore a colorful mix of blooms, like a hydrangea floret, a coneflower and a scabiosa pod, with sage and a sprig of thyme.
The bride carried cockscomb, dahlias, coneflowers, scabiosa pods and muted mixed greens. She only requested that her bouquet be tight and textured. Mission accomplished!
Blue lighting transformed the white-walled restaurant into more of a lounge space. Long banquet tables completed the contemporary look.
Rustic Ceremony Decor
Jenn carried a handkerchief embroidered with her and John’s monogram and wedding date; it wrapped around her bouquet later.
During the preceremony cocktail hour, guests sipped tasty strawberry-basil mojitos and ate coconut-fried shrimp and bruschetta.
Guests signed a copy of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go -— the couple’s favorite Seuss story -- in lieu of a more traditional guest book.
At the family-focused ceremony, Jenn’s mom escorted her down the aisle and her sister read from The Velveteen Rabbit. Jim’s 7-year-old daughter was his “best person.”
Square, wooden boxes took the place of glass vases for the natural arrangements. Branches matched the outdoor setting and blooms similar to the ones in the bouquets and boutonnieres added color.
A nod to the childhood theme, the DJ played Willie Nelson’s version of “The Rainbow Connection.”
