A Modern Wedding at the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois

After meeting through work, Ryan Gripp (28) took Lisa Soto (23) by complete surprise when he popped the question using a custom-printed book. "I asked if I could read her a story and in the book was a timeline of our relationship," Ryan says. "At the end, I asked if she'd marry me." While planning their June wedding in the heart of Chicago, Illinois, the couple looked to the Art Institute of Chicago to house their modern celebration. "The location couldn't be beat for a summer wedding with the Chicago skyline in the background," Ryan says. Dressed in a Pronovias gown with a veil of the same design, Lisa completed her elegant bridal look with a bold lip and red and black Christian Louboutin heels for a look that was truly timeless. One detail we especially loved: Lisa's silver brooch bouquet made using old pins. "It took her the better part of two weeks to make," Ryan says. After exchanging vows in a rooftop ceremony overlooking Millennium Park, the newlyweds and 120 guests retreated to the institute's modern wing for an intimate reception at Terzo Piano.
