A Modern, Two-day Wedding at Trinity River Audubon Center in Dallas, Texas

A serene hilltop setting took center stage at the wedding of Alicia Stepp (41 and a photographer) and Allan Tait (47 and a database developer). “Allan and I walked down the aisle together,” Alicia says. “We loved the idea of entering our marriage on equal footing.” Alicia wore a metallic floral lace column gown, while Allan completed his look with his grandfather’s Royal Canadian Navy cuff links. As the couple swapped handwritten vows in a standing-room-only ceremony, the sunset over White Rock Lake quite literally shined. An intimate feast at The Joule hotel followed, where Ikebana-style centerpieces popped against dining tables set with velvet linens and gold flatware. But the real revelry occurred the following evening, when the pair invited 150 guests to a dinner turned karaoke party at Trinity River Audubon Center. Alicia surprised Allan and incorporated a few subtle pop culture references into their décor, including custom cocktail napkins that read “Let’s Get Schwifty”—an ode to Allan’s favorite TV show, Rick and Morty. Postparty, guests perked up with to-go cups of coffee paired with doughnut holes.
