A Modern, Spring Wedding at Greenhouse Loft in Chicago, Illinois
rn While Kelly Ganis (28 and in marketing) and Brett Komisar (27 and a market researcher) set out to plan an informal wedding in the heart of Chicago, the result can best be described as modern and chic. Armed with a spring-inspired pastel palette, the couple looked to the Greenhouse Loft for their ceremony and reception, thanks to the venue's sleek, natural details. "We loved the modern, natural look of the space with its wood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows," Kelly says. "We just wanted something casual and the loft seemed to fill the bill perfectly." Dressed in a beaded white Pronovias gown, the couple exchanged vows under a flower-adorned birch wood chuppah; Kelly's aunt served as the officiant. One ceremony detail we especially loved? Kelly and Brett's lighthearted wedding programs, which outlined "how it's gonna go." (The back page even included a single tissue for guests labeled "tears of joy.") "The programs were one of our favorite things about the wedding—we received so many compliments on them," Kelly says. With the help of Hearty Boys caterers, the newlyweds treated guests to a comfort-food-filled reception that felt less like a formal fete and more like an intimate backyard barbecue. When it came to dessert, the couple opted for three fresh cakes courtesy of Broken Tart in flavors like cookies and cream, graham cracker and olive oil. As for advice, Kelly says not to sweat the small stuff. "Roll with the punches and try to enjoy every minute of the day," she says. "It truly goes by in the blink of an eye."
