A Modern Rustic Wedding at the Bauer in Kansas City, Missouri
Wanting a venue that showcased what they love about Kansas City, Missouri, Janae Walla (19 and a photography studio manager) and Jesse Trotter (20 and a barista) chose the Bauer for their nuptials. “The Bauer was actually the only place we looked at, and we fell in love with it immediately,” Janae says. “The environment was vintage yet modern, which is a really great way to describe our personal style. We loved the big windows that looked out over the city, the hardwood floors and the versatility of the space. The staff was also super-helpful and kind, which is always a bonus when looking for a venue.” Wanting their wedding to feel ultra-personalized, they made many details themselves. Janae’s aunt doubled as florist and wedding planner, and brought all the details to life. “I really can't think of a better way to describe our wedding style besides just 'us,' ” Janae says. “We had elements of vintage, rustic, modern and nerdy all thrown into a meaningful, cozy and energetic evening.” We love that instead of a traditional cocktail hour, the couple catered a coffee bar. Since they were both baristas at the time of the wedding, the got PT's Coffee Roasting to serve a pour-over bar for black coffee and an espresso bar, which had lattes with handmade lavender syrup. They even hand-painted 160 teacups for guests to use throughout the soiree and take home at the end of the night. There are so many details we love!
