A Modern, Romantic Wedding at the Guild in Kansas City, Missouri

Brittany Freeman (25 and a sales representative) and Kyle Freeman’s (25 and a medical student) wedding was all about blending casual elegance with modern romance. The Guild in Kansas City, Missouri, was the perfect starting point. Located in the city’s Creative Crossroads district, the historic venue has a distinct vintage, industrial vibe with concrete floors, exposed wooden beams, subway-tile walls and an eye-catching crystal chandelier that instantly caught the couple’s attention. The day started with a traditional ceremony at Country Club Christian Church, the same place Brittany’s parents were married 26 years earlier. “We had a more casual ceremony filled with light-hearted moments and laughter,” Brittany says. “My obsession for Justin Timberlake even sneaked its way into the minister’s devotion.” The newlyweds and their guests then headed to the Guild for a night of celebrating. With help from the planners at Simple Elegance and the florists at Branches and Twigs, the couple put their personal mark on the chic urban space, with arrangements of punchy coral and white flowers, vintage-inspired milk glass vases and lots of candlelight. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the venue’s private garden, where they had inspired eats like mini tacos made by Delish Catering, before putting dancing to the sounds of DJ Jeff Holmes. Some tips from Brittany: “I know it's so hard to do, but seriously, try not to sweat the small stuff. There were so many little details I spent way too much time stressing over. Not only did guests not notice, but I didn't either. Also, my wedding planner was amazing. She helped take so much off my plate. Without her, our day wouldn't have been nearly as amazing. Hiring her was the best decision we made throughout the whole thing.”
