A Modern Purple-and-Black-Hued Wedding at the Hotel Van Zandt in Austin, Texas

Ian Rainbolt (33 and working in private equity finance) and Rex Wright (32 and a supply chain consultant) played up the juxtaposition between moody and airy with their “elegant, masculine and soft” wedding aesthetic. For their wedding-day fashion, Ian and Rex chose to wear navy suits to complement the hotel’s aesthetic. For the reception, they switched into dark green jackets that went well with their greenery décor. When it came to design, a marbelized cake and brass chandeliers spoke to the sleeker side of their design while white roses (“80% of the flowers were white roses,” they couple says), glowy candlelight and plenty of greenery added the soft feeling they wanted to capture. Beyond creating a beautiful and sleek wedding celebration, the couple made sure to infuse the event with personalized details, too. Ian’s love of soda not only inspired the couple’s favors, it also crept into Rex’s vows. “I take you for the love you hold in your heart (and the Diet Coke that’s embedded in your blood),” he shared.
