A Modern, Preppy Wedding at Morgan Manufacturing in Chicago, Illinois

Personalization was essential for Jaime Koziol (30 and a lawyer) and Tom Delaney (30 and an entrepreneur), who held their ceremony in Old St. Patrick’s Church in Chicago, Illinois, and had their reception for 330 guests at the nearby Morgan Manufacturing warehouse space. “From the beginning we wanted our wedding to be very ‘us,’ ” Jaime says. “That meant nothing over-the-top fancy but quality food and, most important, a really fun day and night.” Their crisp, preppy palette included navy and white stripes with green and gold accents. The breezy beach-inspired tones were paired with lots of green topiaries and garlands, bringing a bright cheeriness to the indoor reception, which also featured a custom crest crafted by the couple’s calligrapher. “We got engaged in Hawaii, and since I was drinking a pineapple margarita, I knew I wanted to incorporate pineapples into the wedding,” Jaime says. “I also didn't want the pineapple to be cheesy, so I tried to incorporate it in more subtle ways—for example, hiding it in our crest.” During the reception, guests danced to a live band and grabbed snacks from a popcorn bar. “Don't sweat the small stuff—have fun,” Jaime says. “Don't compare your wedding with others. Just focus on what's most important to you.” —Carolyn Meers
