A Modern, Nature-Centric Loft Wedding in Tampa, Florida
Amanda White and Mike Hudome's wedding had three separate parts: a ceremony at Fancy Free Nursery, cocktail hour in a nearby coffee shop and a reception at an industrial event space called CAVU TPA. "We both have a deep love of plants—in fact, on anniversaries and Valentine's Day, Mike always gets me plants instead of flowers—so the idea of getting married in a plant store was so exciting," Amanda says. The ceremony took place on an outdoor deck with midcentury-modern wood detailing and greenery accents. To complement the abundance of tropical plants, the couple chose a color palette of green, black and deep purple with some copper details. "We are not religious, but we are spiritual and spent months writing our own wedding ceremony with our dear friend who officiated," Amanda says. The couple stood in front of greenery and floating arches—Mike wore a navy-blue and black lapel tuxedo, and Amanda stunned in a sheath crepe dress with an illusion back. At the reception, personalized hot sauce bottles doubled as eclectic escort cards. "A week before the wedding, I spent hours individually pouring our favorite hot sauce into mini bottles and pressing the stickers on. It almost killed me, but it was so unique and worth it and perfect for the tacos we served for dinner," Amanda says. The brick-walled space was dressed up with long tables, copper chairs, black-rimmed chargers, copper flatware and green votive glasses. An abundance of plants and flickering candles added color to the neutral loft, and the couple sat on bohemian wicker sweetheart chairs. Other fun elements included signature cocktails (The Yogi for Amanda, The Lumberjack for Mike and a Bark-a-rita" for their dog, Barkley), signage with modern calligraphy and a fondant wedding cake hand-painted with an abstract design.
