A Modern-Meets-Vintage Backyard Wedding in Detroit, Michigan

Eva Blankinship and Jon Randall hosted their wedding at a historical mansion in Detroit, Michigan. "We love to host and entertain our own house parties, so we decided to throw the ultimate upscale house party at our dear friend's beautiful 10,000-square-foot Kresge mansion," Eva says. "Our style was classic, inviting and festive, with modern elements sprinkled amongst an early-20th-century Gatsby vibe." The wedding had a color palette of rich emeralds, jades and crisp whites. The couple exchanged vows in the well-kept garden of the estate, and they celebrated at dining tables set up in the backyard. To complement the decor, Eva and her sister hand-painted signs in a black and gold color palette. "There was a lot of greenery, white flowers, black candles, gold votives and gold finishes. We rented a green velvet couch and some other cool furniture for extra seating and lounging areas throughout the yard," Eva says. "My husband and the team also surprised me with a beautiful greenery wall and sign of our two last names combined, 'The Randallships.' It was a great photo-op!" The couple served a "strolling dinner" with food catered from their favorite spots in the city—including a coffee cart that stenciled their names and hearts on guests' drinks. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the newlyweds served cookies and a cheese wheel cake. Eva wore a "modernized vintage" fit and flare dress with a sweetheart neckline, which she paired with a beaded cape, vintage updo, "Hollywood glam" makeup and a birdcage veil. Jon sported a muted-dark green suit paired with a green, white and navy silk striped tie.
