A Modern, Masculine Wedding at Detroit Institute of Arts in Detroit, Michigan

Christopher (Chris) Pierce (36 and a biotechnology executive) and Jonathan (Jon) Pollock (37 and owner of Ciao Andiamo) let the Diego Rivera murals in their museum venue shine with the help of a wood chuppah and an autumnal palette of burnt orange and dark red. “We wanted a design that felt modern, clean and masculine,” Chris says. Save-the-dates featured a vintage photo of Detroit, while invitations boasted an illustrated map of the city enclosed in an envelope inspired by Italian damasks. After a ceremony in the venue’s Rivera Court and cocktails in the sun-drenched Kresge Court, dinner was served in the Great Hall. There, family members and friends dined on Slows Bar BQ and Sanders Hot Fudge Cream Puffs before taking home bottles of artisanal balsamic vinegar. Clusters of James Storie Red Aranthera orchids made for showstopping centerpieces. The Beatles fans swayed to “Till There Was You” during their first dance.
