A Modern Loft Wedding at Ravenswood Event Center in Chicago, Illinois

Trent Compton and Todd Scheff tied the knot at Ravenswood Event Center, a vintage car and neon sign warehouse in Chicago. They started the day by getting ready together in their nearby neighborhood, then they met their 180 guests for a modern, unique celebration. The ceremony took place in a room with huge floor-to-ceiling windows. Trent and Todd stood underneath a chuppah covered with leaves and exchanged vows as the sun set. Since Todd’s family is Jewish, they also incorporated a few Jewish traditions into the mix, like breaking a glass. Both grooms stood out in ivory tuxedo jackets with white shirts and black pants, as well as black velvet loafers with champagne bottles embroidered on them. They also donned black-and-gold pocket squares, gold studs and cufflinks, and black bow ties with ivory hearts. "We wanted to look classy and stand out. It was really tricky finding outfits that complemented both of us while also being distinct from our wedding party, which was made up of only our siblings and siblings-in-law," the couple says. In the end, the bridesmaids wore silvery metallic dresses and the groomsmen wore classic black suits.  The reception was held in the venue's "showroom" filled with vintage cars and old Chicago neon signs. Dining tables were dressed up with succulents, candles in gold geometric vases and giraffe napkin rings. In fact, giraffes served as a design motif for the entire night. "We’re quite a tall couple. Trent is 6’6” and Todd is the tallest in his family, so we’re sometimes referred to as giraffes," the pair says. "We wanted to incorporate giraffes into our day, including in our hashtag (#GiraffelyEverAfter). We had gold giraffe napkin rings at each place setting and two gold giraffes on our wedding cake. Later in the night, we surprised our guests by putting on giraffe head costumes on the dance floor."
