A Modern, Latino-Inspired Wedding at Hotel Maya in Long Beach, California

This modern, sophisticated wedding took place at Hotel Maya in Long Beach, California, which embodied a subtle Latin flair that reflected the grooms’ cultural backgrounds. Steve Anthony Alvarado (35 and in retail technology) and Antonio Cuevas (41 and in advertising) chose the waterside hotel for their wedding festivities, with gorgeous surrounding views of the downtown area and harbor. The couple wanted to take advantage of Southern California's mild March weather, so they had their ceremony on the large outside deck overlooking the water, with moments captured by Derek Chad Photography. At the reception inside the hotel, guests still felt as if they were outside, with large windows bordering the walls. Round dining tables were dressed in white tablecloths with silver and white zigzag runners, decorated with yellow tulip centerpieces that added pops of color, arranged by Valerie Jurado Botanical Design with the planning assistance of Holly Stenzel from Chic and Stunning Events. What detail really caught our attention? The couple shared a love for travel, and so they reflected that passion through the markers that identified dining tables. The tables were named after Antonio and Steve’s favorite destination locations, with one side of the marker showing a black-and-white street map of the area, and the other side, a photo of the couple during that trip.
