A Modern Jewish Wedding at the Tivoli Building in Denver, Colorado

Denver native Shoshana (Shoshi) Leftin (27 and a pediatrician) and David (Dave) Dobkin (28 and a real estate developer) took their love of industrial buildings, cities and maps to an urban loft space for their wedding. “The mix of classic and modern represented the traditions important to us and the fun lifestyle we live,” Shoshi says. "We wanted to create a modern design that captured our tastes and our love story." Shoshi put a spin on the bridesmaids’ attire by having her 12 ladies don navy jumpsuits and gingham scarves wrapped around their wrists. “We decided last minute to not have them carry bouquets—to let the modern feel shine,” Shoshi says. A map motif popped on the paper goods and the acrylic bar with the coordinates of Denver. To honor their home, a vintage map of Brooklyn, where Shoshi and Dave now live, sat behind the bar. The pair filled their Jewish ceremony with plenty of sentimental nods, including marrying under the same tallis as Shoshi’s parents. Shoshi and Dave included the traditional prewedding ceremonies of tisch and bedeken into the day's festivities. Romantic greenery and white blooms filled Shoshi’s bouquet and covered the chuppah. The couple didn’t want to delay the party with a sit-down dinner, so guests could move between the food and dance floor at their own pace. Everyone dined on dishes from across the US, including Colorado-rubbed steak, a poke bar, an ice cream station and late-night cheese steak tater tots, for Dave’s family, who hail from Philadelphia. Afterward, the couple threw a dance party so epic the rabbi was singing on stage during the hora.
