A Modern Interfaith Wedding at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island, Michigan
Amanda Bass (32 and a teacher) met Michael Wojciechowski (36 and a network engineer) on Career Day at the elementary school where Amanda works as Mike was set to present in her classroom. Upon finding out they lived in the same area, Amanda asked Mike to come back for another classroom program and Mike asked her out for drinks. They hit it off immediately and remained inseparable for the next 5 years. As was their anniversary tradition, the couple went for a stroll in December to the Lincoln Park Zoo to see the holiday lights display. This time around, Michael proposed and had hired a paparazzi photographer to take pictures while they made their way through the zoo's light display. Although neither the bride nor groom is from Michigan, the two had gone on a road trip a few years earlier and discovered Mackinac Island, a small island that doesn't allow the use of cars and participates in fun events like cannon firings. The three-day Independence Day wedding began in St. Anne's church followed an outdoor cocktail hour on the deck with a fully stocked raw bar. The reception space was decorated in a mixed look of bold and soft with black and white stripes rounded out by blush tones. An elaborate dinner menu was served followed by an extensive dessert bar and plenty of dancing. As a favour, guests were able to take home their fun pictures from the Photo Booth along with a bag of Mackinac Island signature fudge and gummy bears.
