A Modern Hotel Wedding at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania

The eclectic, vintage style of Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh inspired Marissa Catanzarite (32 and a warehouse and logistics specialist) and Brent DeBona’s (32 and a facilities director) celebration in the heart of downtown. “The black, white and gray floors matched our color palette perfectly,” Marissa says, who added blush and gold. Family was also front and center. Marissa’s uncle helped plan, and her cousin gifted charms with her grandmothers’ photos to clip to the bridal bouquet. Brent also carried charms of his grandparents in his pockets. From the start, Marissa fell for the hotel’s living room, complete with a fireplace and blue velvet couch—which she knew “would pop since I was in an ivory dress and the wedding party was in all black.” Her bridesmaids rocked pony tails to show off the keyhole detail on the back of their fashion-forward gowns. At the reception, relatives from both sides hit the floor to dance the traditional Italian Tarantella. Greenery runners cascaded to the floor, and blush and cream roses filled gold trumpet vases. “Since we were born and raised in Pittsburgh, having a cookie table is a wedding staple,” Marissa says. Guests were gifted a dozen cookies made by the couple’s families. Late-night pizza from local Mineo’s Pizza House was also a hit. The last course featured two slices of cake, giving guests a taste of each distinct flavor: almond cake with strawberry compote and red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. The pair donated their blooms to a local hospital at the end of the night.
