A Modern Fusion Wedding at the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas, Nevada

Five years after Patricia Shay (32 and a physician) met Snehal Bhoola (42 and a physician), he proposed on a Spanish beach with a custom diamond ring, taking Patricia by surprise. "He designed it himself," Patricia says of the intimate proposal. In search of a modern wedding that incorporated aspects from both of their cultures, the pair looked to the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas, Nevada, to host their special day. "We included Indian, Taiwanese and American traditions as a reflection of who we are and where we came from," Patricia says of exchanging vows in a Western wedding followed by an abridged Indian ceremony. As the newlyweds made a quick clothing change between the two ceremonies, entertainers performed a traditional Chinese lion dance as 280 guests looked on. "We wanted to provide a weekend-long experience for our guests," Patricia says. "I'm so glad we were able to represent both our cultural backgrounds." —Rachel Sylvester
