A Modern, Ethereal Wedding at Terra Gallery in San Francisco, California

Allie and Alex aimed to create a warm, inviting atmosphere at their autumn wedding. Soft lighting, muted fall colors and local foliage set the scene, but it was their ceremony that completed the intimate feel. Allie’s childhood cantor officiated under a suspended installation of dried flowers (it doubled as a chuppah), and the couple collaborated on original vows, taking turns reading each line aloud. “We felt a powerful sense of connection,” Allie says. Allie carried dried bracken fern, dried clematis vine and a mix of blush and yellow roses. “We incorporated lots of dried elements that have warm, golden hues and interesting textures,” Allie says. “We wanted our designs—like the hanging installation of dried hops vine with bracken fern and clematis vine—to stand out like pieces of art.”  A neutral mod sofa and nesting ables offered a place for guests to unwind before  grazing on shrimp shu mai, kogi beef empanadas and oysters on the half shell. At the dining tables, silk ribbons wrapped around the menus and black linen napkins for a modern look, matching the minimalist letterpress suite. Guests took to their seats to dine on pear salad, roasted halibut and mustard-glazed beef tenderloin before enjoying an chocolate cake with buttercream frosting, apple fritters and olive oil cake.
