A Modern, Elegant Wedding at The Hall on Dragon Dallas, Texas

Over the course of their five-year relationship, Shane Morgan (35 and owner of Silver Palate Cake Boutique) and Michael Walraven (24 and a law student) had the inside scoop on wedding planning, thanks to Shane's bakery. For their ceremony at what was once EM the Venue in Dallas, the couple eschewed the rustic-chic theme synonymous with their Louisiana upbringing and planned a sleek and modern event with a black color scheme with pops of yellow. "We're both a little flashy and wanted to make sure our wedding matched our personalities," Michael says. The ceremony space was decorated with black lanterns, glass vases, floating candles and yellow blooms in the form of oncidium orchids, rose topiaries and more. Can't-miss details included elegant, black-and-white lounge vignettes, a playful flower petal grand exit and of course, a custom cake made by Shane. —Allie Volpe
