A Modern Cuba-Themed Wedding at The Green House in San Francisco, California
Mike Muldoon (left) and Mario Elias tied the knot in The Green Room at the San Francisco War Memorial. “We had been together for six years already—engaged for two of those—so this wedding was something we had time to fine-tune and make our way,” the couple says. The elegant wedding drew inspiration from colonial Cuba, since Mario hails from the Caribbean island. The grooms wore matching floral necklaces of Cuban-inspired flowers. They also donned coordinating suits—Mike chose deep purple, and Mario went with emerald green. Both the ceremony and reception had a modern-tropical aesthetic with large-scale, dramatic greenery accented with white flowers. The color palette of mint, blush and gold served as a nod to Cuban style. Mike and Mario also added personalization with a vintage photo display, glamorous menus and a single-tier cake with faux flowers. “Our wedding was not just celebrating our union, but bringing family together to share an evening of love and happiness. We wanted the wedding to highlight everyone who touched our lives,” the couple says.
Our favorite #MakeTradition Moment: “There were many unique details that made the event very ‘us,’ but the most memorable part was our first dance, which was actually a runway battle filled with gay surprises and gags,” the grooms say.
