After planning their dream wedding, Erica Lasky and Sean Moran received devastating news: Sean had cancer. Thankfully, Sean powered through two surgeries and chemotherapy, and he was free of cancer before the couple's August wedding. "As we went through the treatments, we knew we wanted to make our wedding even more personal, and to make it not only a celebration of love, but of life," the couple says. The wedding took place at The Madison, an unfinished warehouse in downtown Cleveland that essentially served as a blank slate. Erica and Sean played up the minimalist space with a hexagonal structure and wood letters reading "God gave me you" behind the ceremony site. "Overall, our palette was neutral with pops of color in our flowers. There were hints of French provincial along with a bohemian vibe," the couple says. Since the reception space could hold up to 500 seated guests, Erica and Sean tried to fill it as much as possible. "A mobile bar was brought in to help with that, and a gorgeous floral garland was created for the bar," they say. "We also curated a lounge area using pieces from my grandmother's home." Pops of blue in the linens, an ombré letter display and lounge furniture further broke up the neutral space.
Our favorite #MakeTradition Moment: "Sean's mother passed away when he was 14, so his aunt had part of her wedding dress sewn into a handkerchief, which I tied into my bouquet," Erica says.
